The Math Department started out strong this year at all grade levels. Our sixth graders are working with fractions and decimals. Their multiplications skills are a must to be able to simplify fractions in order to reduce them to lowest terms. The seventh graders are sharping up their integer skills because their curriculum will involve positive and negative numbers this year. They will appear in every chapter and they must know the rules to add, subtract, multiply, and divide them. Our eighth graders are comparing and contrasting rational numbers in order to be able to follow their Pre-Algebra curriculum. The GEM program has our students working on Pre-Algebra in sixth, Algebra in seventh, and Geometry in eighth, which has them ahead by two years of their grade level curriculum. Please make sure your children know their multiplication facts and have them practice at home because it benefits them at all levels of math.
