Steven J. Williams, Principal
Dear Parents, Students, and Community Partners,
It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Driftwood Middle School, home of the Cardinals. The 2015-2016 school year will be a magnificent time for students and families; a year filled with exciting changes, opportunities, and accomplishments. Here at Driftwood, our goal is to challenge every student academically, to grow them socially and emotionally, and to guide them in becoming critical thinkers and confident problem solvers.
Our school learning community is strengthened by our partnerships. We believe that educating children requires dedication, commitment, and a successful partnership with all stakeholders. Students are expected to display good character and to make wise choices that will result in successful outcomes. Parents and community organizations are encouraged to take an active roll in the educational process.
Parents, please take time to regularly review your child’s grades online via the Pinnacle Gradebook portal, and talk with your children about their school experiences. Your interest and concern in their school progress will motivate them to do their best. Also, maintain contact with your child’s teachers and staff members to help establish a successful home/school partnership. I encourage your participation in extracurricular activities such as the Parent Teacher Student Association, school concerts, athletic events, and Title I Parent Curriculum Nights. I invite community organizations to partner with us by volunteering your time and resources to aid us in meeting the needs of our families and staff.
I welcome the opportunity to meet all of you. Please know that I have an open door policy and you are invited to DMS anytime. I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the school year to provide a productive, safe learning environment that supports student achievement. Let’s make this an awesome year full of Cardinal pride!
